Ten (10) Things Missing from Windows 7

Wednesday, November 18, 2009

1. Integrated Social Networking
It's a little surprising that Microsoft didn't do more to integrate social networking into Windows 7. Considering the explosive growth social networks are enjoying, Windows 7 seemed like an obvious candidate to feature some built-in social-networking apps to extend its viability. No such luck.
2. Better Cloud Integration
When Microsoft showed off Office for the Internet, some might have thought that the software giant was ready to welcome the Web as a viable software partner, rather than a competitor. It hasn't. Windows 7 is not tied very well to the Web. There's little integration with Microsoft's own Web services. It was a missed opportunity for the software giant.
3. Features Missing from Starter Edition
Microsoft has always been fond of providing several versions of Windows with varying degrees of features, but Windows 7 Starter Edition is a little ridiculous. The software, which admittedly is designed with netbooks in mind, loses Windows Aero and 64-bit support, to name just a couple of the many features it lacks. It's unfortunate.
4. Expert Mode
With Windows 7, Microsoft still assumes that we don't know what we're doing with our PCs. It hides files. It doesn't make it easy to gain access to important folders. It's trying to make it as "fool-proof" as possible. That's great for beginners. But what about those who know what they're doing? There should be an expert mode to help those folks get the most out of their Windows experience.
5. A Self-Analysis Feature
Although Windows 7 is a new and improved version of Windows, it still suffers from slow-downs, security gaps and other annoying problems. It would have been nice if Microsoft had built in a feature allowing users to determine what might be wrong with their computers. Maybe a tool that runs a diagnostic check and tells users that too many processes are running or that the user should run anti-malware software. It could have helped.
6. Mac OS X's Influence
Although rumors have been swirling that Microsoft "borrowed" some of its ideas for Windows 7 from Apple, the company is adamant that it did no such thing. All of the work it has done in Windows 7, Microsoft claims, has been its own. So, if you're looking for Mac OS X's influence in Windows 7, you won't find it.
7. The Windows Vista Taskbar
In Windows 7, the Taskbar has been totally reworked. Unlike the poorly designed and little-used Taskbar in Vista, the Windows 7 Taskbar is extremely useful. Users can quickly sift through open windows to find the options they want. The feature makes switching between windows much easier and substantially increases productivity.
8. IE, Windows Media Player, Windows Search (if You Want)
Microsoft now allows users to disable Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player and Windows Search. These applications are active in Windows 7 by default, but with just a few clicks, users can make those programs things of the past. It's a nice option.
9. Classic Start Menu
The classic Start menu is officially gone in Windows 7. There's still a basic Start-menu-like pane, but now much of its usability has been placed in the Taskbar. That said, Windows 7's new Start menu is far more user-friendly. It makes it much easier to find applications. It's a nice upgrade over the classic menu.
10. Windows Mail, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker
When users start working with Windows 7, they'll notice that it doesn't come with Windows Mail, Photo Gallery or Movie Maker by default. Microsoft decided to put those programs in a package called Live Essentials. In essence, users can still download those programs if they really want them. But if not, they won't need to worry: these applications are missing by default.

Entrecard Proof of Payments

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

As promised, here are my proof of payments from entrecard. I earned $70 dollars from them before they change owners. I am wondering if somebody beats my record, because during the time of Entrecard Cash Out program, I have read a few blogs posting their proofs of payment but only paid $10 dollars to $20 dollars. During that time, many blogger are against the program. One of my friend said that she doesn't earned a single penny from the program and says I am so lucky. I thought it may be because I have joined the cash out program earlier than them. As I can recall, I joined the program as soon as they announced that they will try the credits to be converted to cash. Also by that time, I earned a lot of credits because I am regularly dropping cards. Thank you Entrecard.

Adgitize First Payment Received

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Whew, finally I got my first payment from Adgitize. I've been a publisher since May 2009. I joined the site because I read a lot of blogs about it and convinced that I can earn while blogging. At that time, Entrecard has this cash out program and I really take that opportunity to earn money because I have lots of credits. I didn't regret that because I earned $70 from Entrecard which I will be posting my proof of payments on my next post. Anyway, in that case, I ignored Adgitize, not knowing that I can earn money there too, and can cash out in 2 months time if I am regularly blogging and visiting sites. Also, it brings lots of visitors in my site since they launch this preferred publishers lists. I am thinking of applying as an advertiser so I can earn more visitors and readers. Happy blogging to all.

Windows 7 Security Features

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Microsoft Security Essentials
Microsoft Security Essentials is Microsoft's response to the malware that has plagued the company's operating systems in the past. It won't catch all the bad stuff, but as security experts have found, it does a fine job of catching several security threats that impact the Windows ecosystem.
BitLocker

Encryption is a key component in any operating system security plan. With the help of the newly improved BitLocker, Windows 7 users can have more control over the encryption of their hard drives. Microsoft's BitLocker even automatically encrypts new data while it's running. It's a hands-off tool that should improve security in Windows 7.
BitLocker To Go

BitLocker To Go is new to Windows 7. Rather than encrypt just the desktop, BitLocker To Go allows users to encrypt portable hardware, like external hard drives and USB keys. It's probably one of the best new security features in Windows 7. More users than ever are going mobile. Data is at risk whenever that happens. BitLocker To Go helps limit the spread of sensitive data to malicious hands.
Action Center

In Windows Vista, Microsoft used a specially named Security Center menu to give users access to security features. In Windows 7, the company moved all those security features to the Action Center where they join Backup and Restore, as well as other features. It's an important move. The Action Center is now the place to go not only to secure the operating system, but also to ensure that data is kept safe in case of a crash. It's a nice reminder to users.

User Account Control
User Account Control couldn't have been any more annoying in Windows Vista. It caused most users to ignore its warnings, and thus, put them at risk. Microsoft drastically improved User Account Control in Windows 7, making it easier for users to customize how intrusive it is. That level of personalization should cut down on click fatigue and keep users more aware of what's happening on their systems.
DirectAccess
DirectAccess is a welcome addition to Windows 7 for any user who connects to a corporate VPN. Rather than input all the credentials manually, DirectAccess now streamlines the process of securely connecting to a corporate network. It also maintains that secure connection throughout the process, ensuring that no data leaks out during the transmission.
Biometrics
Although biometric technology has been a part of the Windows ecosystem for years, Windows 7 allows third-party developers to use Microsoft's own biometric drivers and software, rather than having to create their own. It's no small development. Thanks to that simple addition, Windows 7 users will rely less on third-party software. And the less third-party software, the better.
AppLocker
AppLocker is an especially useful tool for IT admins. The software gives administrators the opportunity to decide exactly what applications users can run on the network. The tool also limits the scripts and installation programs users can have running on their computers. It's a great way for the IT department to maintain some control over the security of employee computers.
Windows Filtering Platform
Windows Filtering Platform was originally included in Windows Vista. It's a series of system services and an API that allows developers to access portions of Windows. In Windows 7, developers can incorporate Windows Firewall components into their own applications. That should help limit users fiddling with Windows Firewall to gain access to a program's features.
Windows Firewall
Windows Firewall has been updated in Windows 7. The app now allows users to create settings based on where they are. In other words, if a user is in a public place, he or she might want more aggressive Firewall protections than when working at home. Windows 7 gives users the freedom to decide how they want to safeguard themselves.

Why Windows 7 Upgrade is Unlike Any Other

Saturday, October 24, 2009

Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs and media center PC's. It was released to manufacturing last July 22, 2009, and general retail availability last October 22, 2009. Interested in Windows 7 capabilities, I am intrigued by these statements and I just want to share. Anyone using Windows 7 right now, what can you guys say?

  1. The Whole (Microsoft Windows) Enchilada. This is the first time the server side applications and the client side applications are all being updated at the same time.
  2. Storm Clouds?. This is the first time a really new computing model—cloud computing—is demanding that Microsoft can show it can play well with others.
  3. Google in the Rear View Mirror. This the first time that a big new competitor—Google—is creating a new operating system to be available within twelve months of the new Windows.
  4. Where's Bill?. This will be the first Windows client operating system introduced following Bill Gates retirement.
  5. A Clean, Well Lighted Place. This is the first Windows client that will tout simplicity instead of complexity based on a NASA level programming effort.
  6. Secure by Design This is the first client where security will take prominence over touting backward compatibility.
  7. All Together Now. This is the first time that an economic recovery, an aging IT infrastructure and a vendor community anxious to spur sales and a range of new processor chips will all play to the Microsoft upgrade theme song.
  8. Zero Price Competition. This is the first time that there are really good, mature free operating system competitors to Microsoft.
  9. A Healthy Apple. This is the first time that a healthy Apple is setting the consumer agenda in lots of areas where Microsoft would like to play.
  10. Vista? Never Heard of It. This will be the first time that Microsoft's major competitor is not the previous Microsoft operating system but an operating system—XP—introduced in October 2001.

Birthday Wish

Sunday, October 18, 2009

A man asked his wife what she'd like for her 40th birthday. "I'd love to be six again," she replied. On the morning of her birthday, he got her up bright and early and off they went to a local theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park: the Death Slide, the Screaming Loop, the Wall of Fear, everything there was! Wow! Five hours later she staggered out of the theme park, her head reeling and her stomach upside down. Right to a McDonald's they went, where her husband ordered her a Happy Meal along with extra fries and a refreshing chocolate shake. Then, it was off to a movie - the latest Disney and what a fabulous adventure!

Finally, she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed. He leaned over and lovingly asked, "Well, dear, what was it like being six again?" One eye opened. "You idiot, I meant my dress size." The moral of this story is: When a woman speaks and a man is actually listening, he will still get it wrong.

Moon River

Friday, October 16, 2009

Lyrics:

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

I heard this song on a TV series but I don't know the title...I had a hard time looking for this over the internet really.

Cancerous Foods/Products

Instant Noodles
To all instant noodles lovers, make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.
If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.
Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.
The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti!
There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.
Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as "cancer noodles".

Satay (Barbecue)
If you all eat Satay, don't ever forget to eat the cucumber, because eating Satay together with carbon after barbequing can cause cancer.
But we have a cure for that... Cucumber should be eaten after we eat the Satay because Barbecue has carcinogen (a cancer causing element) but cucumber is anti-carcinogenic. So don't forget to eat the cucumber the next time you have Satay's.

Prawns & Vit. C
DO NOT eat shrimp / prawn if you have just taken VITAMIN C pills.
This will cause you to DIE in ARSENIC (As) toxication within HOURS.

Pork Awareness
Try this and see whether the pork you bought has worms. There goes with your "Bak Kut Teh" for those who love it. Most men love to eat this so watch out before it's too late. If you pours Coke (yes, the soda) on a slab of pork, wait a little while, you will SEE WORMS crawl out of it. A message from the Health Corporation of Singapore about the bad effects of pork consumption. Pig's bodies contain MANY TOXINS, WORM and LATENT DISEASES.
Although some of these infestations are harboured in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far MORE PREDISPOSED to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because PIGS like to SCAVENGE and will eat ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta including their own, garbage, and other pigs. INFLUENZA (flu) is one of the MOST famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is harboured in the LUNGS of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and human in the cooler months.
Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so those who EAT pork sausage tend to SUFFER MORE during EPIDEMICS of INFLUENZA. Pig meat contains EXCESSIVE quantities of HISTAMINE and IMIDAZOLE compounds, which can lead to ITCHING and INFLAMMATION; GROWTH HORMONE which PROMOTES INFLAMMATION and growth; sulphur containing mesenchymal mucus which leads to SWELLING and deposits of MUCUS in tendons and cartilage, resulting in ATHRITIS, RHEUMATISM, etc.
Sulphur helps cause FIRM human tendons and ligaments to be replaced by the pig's soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage.
Eating pork can also lead to GALLSTONES and OBESITY, probably due to its HIGH CHOLESTEROL and SATURATED FAT content. The pig is the MAIN CARRIER of the TAENIE SOLIUM WORM, which is found in its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has RICHINOSIS from eating trichina worms, which are found in pork.
Many people have NO SYMPTOMS to warm them of this, and when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are NOT noticed during meat inspections.

Shampoo
Cancer-causing substance in shampoos. Go home and check your shampoo. Change before it's too late... Check the ingredients listed on your shampoo bottle, and see they have a substance by the name of Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or simply SLS. This substance is found in most shampoos; manufacturers use it because it produces a lot of foam and it is cheap. BUT the fact is, SLS is used to scrub garage floors, and it is very strong!!! It is also proven that it can cause cancer in the long run, and this is no joke. Shampoos that contains SLS: Vo5, Palmolive, Paul Mitchell, L'Oreal, the new Hemp Shampoo from Body Shop etc. contain this substance.
The first ingredient listed (which means it is the single most prevalent ingredient) in Clairol's Herbal Essences is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Therefore, I called one company, and I told them their product contains a substance that will cause people to have cancer. They said, Yeah we knew about it but there is nothing we can do about it because we need that substance to produce foam. By the way Colgate toothpaste also contains the same substance to produce the "bubbles". They said they are going to send me some information.
Research has shown that in the 1980s, the chance of getting cancer is 1 out of 8000 and now, in the 1990s, the chances of getting cancer is 1 out of 3, which is very serious.

Words Are Not Enough by Steps

Thursday, September 24, 2009

I think I heard about a thousand times or more
Don't you bother wasting time
You're telling me you're so much better than before
But I find it hard believing
Until you prove me wrong

[Chorus]
If you really want my love
If I'm all you're dreaming of
You may find it tough
'Cause words are not enough

I wouldn't ever make the same mistake again
Don't wanna be nobody's fool
I wouldn't play the loosing game
Where you can't win
There is nothing that I'm missing
So you better prove me wrong

[Chorus]

You know it ain't easy
To find a new way
After everything that we've been through
So come on and please me
And show that I'm wrong
Let me see you bring the best out of you

[Chorus] (4x)

Stuck On You - Amara

Stuck on you
Ive got this feeling down
Deep in my soul
That I just cant lose

Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess
Ill be with you till the end
Guess Im on my way
Mighty glad you stayed

Im stuck on you
Been a fool too long I guess
Its time for me to come on home
Guess Im on my way
So hard to see
That a woman like you could wait
Around for a man like me
Guess Im on my way
Mighty glad you stayed
Oh, Im leaving on that midnight train
And I know just where Im going
Ive packed up my troubles
And Ive thrown them all away
Because this time little darlin
Im coming home to stay

Im stuck on you
Ive got this feeling down
Deep in my soul
That I just cant lose
Guess, Im on my way
Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess
Ill be with you till the end

Home for the Heart

Friday, September 18, 2009

I never know how love can affect my entire life. At my age of 25, I am still looking forward to a happy life in the near future with the one I really love.

When the heart is lonely, it is not at home
It longs to dwell in a place where it can rest securely.
It wishes to be where it is
accepted,
beloved,
cared for,
dignified, and
encouraged to excel.

It is interesting to observe what men do in order to find
a home for their hearts
Some tried to make wisdom as a dormitory for their hearts.
They strive for degree after degree. Yet the heart remains dull.

Many attempted to place their hearts in mansions of gold.
They filled its pockets with mammon and silver. Still the heart is heavy.

Others sought pleasure as a den for their lonely hearts.
They filled their hearts with mirth. They entertained it with songs, food, and wine.
But the heart refuses to smile.

My heart knows the way to its home. It will never rest till it reaches
the doorsteps of Your heart, for my heart belongs to Your heart.
There Your sweet, soft voice will be my music;
Your love will fill my heart with delight;
Your caring words are wisdom to me;
and You, my treasure.

Words of Wisdom

Monday, September 14, 2009

A human being is part of the whole called
by us universe, a part limited in time and
space. We experience ourselves, our
thoughts and feelings as something
separate from the rest. A kind of optical
delusion of consciousness. This delusion
is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to
our personal desires and to affection for
a few persons nearest to us. Our task must
be to free ourselves from the prison by
widening our circle of compassion to
embrace all living creatures and the
whole of nature in its beauty. ... We
shall require a substantially new manner
of thinking if mankind is to survive.

20 Twitter Applications You Need to Know About

Thursday, September 10, 2009

With more than 50 million users visiting Twitter in July, the microblogging service has become quite the destination for short updates about what we're doing in the moment. In addition to being a hot destination, Twitter has fostered a whole new ecosystem of real-time communication. Countless applications are popping up to take advantage of the Twitter API to help make their Web services viral. Many of these services enhance the Twitter experience.
TweetMeme
TweetMeme is a service that aggregates all the popular links on Twitter to determine which links are popular. TweetMeme also makes the retweet button, which is for content publishers who want to invite their audience to tweet their content on Twitter. The button shows a live count of the number of times your Web page or blog post has been tweeted.
TweetMeNews
Hailing from nobosh labs, TweetMeNews tweets users' personalized news based on their interests. Nobosh Labs' reason for creating TweetMeNews captures the Twitter zeitgeist in a nutshell: "Nobosh has been developing a news personalization engine for over a year. As time went on Twitter exploded! Since that explosion the world has seen a convergence of information on Twitter, reducing the need to visit other sites."
TweetDeck
A super popular application, TweetDeck is a real-time Web browser that connects users to their contacts across Twitter, Facebook and other social sites. TweetDeck also boasts a version of its social application for the iPhone that geeks are giddy over.
TweetVite
TweetVite is pretty much what you'd think it would be from the name: Use it to create invitations for events you're hosting or to find local Tweetups.
TwitVid
Again, as you'd guess from the name, TwitVid lets users upload and tweet videos on Twitter.
Vidly
Another app for sharing video on Twitter, Vidly recently changed its name from Twitvid.io.
Twitoaster
Another of many, many tweet stream aggregators, Twitoaster threads and archives Twitter conversations, adding context and statistics, such as how many replies a Twitter user has received by the hour and on a weekly basis.
Tweet From Above/Tweet From Below
Tweet From Above and Tweet From Below let users send heavenly and hellish tweets anonymously.
TwitPic
You get one guess as to what TwitPic lets you do. You would not be wrong if you said it lets you share photos in tweets.
TwitBin
Twitbin is a Firefox extension that allows you to keep up with all of your Twitter conversations right from your browser sidebar.
Twitterholic
Twitterholic scans the Twitter public timeline for new twits to tweet and calculates individual statistics for each Twitter user.
Twhirl
Owned by Seesmic, Twhirl is a desktop client based on the Adobe AIR platform that lets users ... well, this slide tells it all.
Twtpoll
Another Twitter tool whose name spoils any nomenclature mystery, Twtpoll is a feedback tool that lets users create and distribute polls/surveys on Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed or any other social media site.
Retweetist
Retweetist tracks retweets, or messages tweeted on Twitter that repeat information previously tweeted by another user.
Tweepler
Tweepler lets users separate the wheat from the chaff, helping users decide if they want to follow new followers or not.
TweetScan
TweetScan sends users e-mail when their keywords are mentioned on Twitter.
Tweetburner
For those who can't get enough of following the data flow on the links they share on Twitter, here's Tweetburner.
Twittervision
This is so cool: See who is posting what from where in real time with Twittervision, as a sort of mashup of Twitter and Google Maps.
Twibs
Twibs helps users find businesses on Twitter. Great promotional tool.
Twitdom
Finding Twitter apps can be a royal pain, particularly because so many are built by some programming shops, or even just lone wolf programmers. Twitdom is a Twitter apps database that provides a "consolidated view of all the applications developed for the Twitter ecosystem."

10 Most Coveted Technologies

Friday, September 4, 2009

Solution providers will join two to three vendor partner programs this year mostly to gain access to new technologies and products according to Channel Insider/Mototrola Partnership Study. Here are the 10 technologies most desired by solution providers.

10. Point of Sale
Point of sale solutions and inventory management systems are in hign demand among retailers who are retooling to increase operational efficiencies and save money. POS provides an interesting opportunity for solution providers with hooks in the retail market.

9. Wireless Devices
Mobility remains the name of the game in the evolving workplace. Devices that enable workers to seamlessly roam and remain connected are highly desired by enterprises.

8. VOip/Voice Networking
Telephony costs continue to hang on businesses of all sizes, particularly those with remote and mobile wokforces. The need for better and more integrated voice networking services continues to grow, making an attractive opportunity for solution providers.

7. Virtualization
Many technology conversations nowadays begin and end with "virtualization". The technology that optimizes and extends the usefulness of data center technology is hot and shows no signs of slowing down.

6. Enterprise Mobility
Handheld scanners, mobile printers, hardened computing devices are in big demand by government agencies particularly emergency first responders and companies such as shipping and transportation. The opportunities are rich, but dampened by the need for vertical expertise.

5. Blade Servers
Blade servers are the new backbone of the data center, giving users the ability to scale and maintain infrastructure. Big server vendors are quickly developing new, virtualization-friendly blades. The replacement opportunity for conventional services means solid sales potential.

4. Digital Signage
Digital signage may not seem like the sexiest technology, but it's a big opportunity. Businesses from retail stores to airports to restaurants are replacing print signs with digital displays. Digital signage is under-distributed giving it a lot of room for growth.

3. Managed Services
Managed services is one of the fastest growing and most lucrative segments of the channel. Increasing competition especially by large vendors such as Dell and high expense of starting a MSP does make entry challenging.

2. Smart Phones
Smart phones such as Apple's iPhone, Blackberry Curve and the forthcoming Palm Pre are putting more mobile applications in the hands of users. Businesses are looking for greater support and that's opening vast opportunities for solution providers.

1. Software as a Service
Analysis say the SaaS and hosted application market will top $66 billion by 2012. Solution providers are finding rich opportunities, but the business model isn't always easy to adopt and implement.

Regular Health Mistakes

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

All of us make little health mistakes that cause damage to our bodies in the long run - simply because we are unaware we are doing something wrong. Here are some of the most common mistakes made by many of us.

Crossing our legs
Do you cross your legs at your knees when sitting? Although we may believe that this is the lady-like elegant way to sit, sitting this way cuts down circulation to your legs. If you don't want varicose veins to mar the beauty of your legs and compromise your health, uncross your legs every time you realise you have one knee on top of the other. The best way to sit is to simply place both legs together on the floor, balancing your weight equally. If you feel like changing position, instead of crossing your legs, simply move both legs together to one side. As an alternative, you could also consider crossing your legs loosely at the ankles. This is a classically elegant way to sit, and is far better for your legs and your health than sitting with your legs crossed at your knees.

Not changing our toothbrush
How often do you change your toothbrush? Most of us wait until most of the bristles have either fallen off, or are in such bad shape that we'd be embarrassed to pull out our brush in public. However, since not many of us need to pull out our brush in public, we carry on with our frayed one until we lose it. Replace your toothbrush often. Damaged bristles can harm the enamel, and don't massage your gums well. If you find brushing your teeth a pain like I do, but know you must do it, you might as well be doing it right. Imagine going through the annoyance of brushing your teeth twice a day only to find out that you're damaging your enamel every time you clean your teeth. Also, use a brush with soft bristles unless your dentist has advised otherwise.

Eating out often
There are oils that are high in cholesterol, and oils that cause little harm and are better for your heart. However, no matter how light
the oil is, it is never a good idea to eat too much of it. Avoid fried foods.Remember that in all probability your favorite Indian food
restaurant throws a huge, HUGE chunk of butter in a tiny bowl of dal. Rita, who worked in the kitchen of a 5 star hotel, was shocked when she saw the cook chop a 500gm butter slab in half, and throw half into a Paneer Makhani dish. No wonder the customers left licking their fingers. And no wonder they felt so stuffed and heavy afterwards. Limit outdoor eating unless you know that you're getting served light and healthy food.

Skipping breakfast
Never, ever skip breakfast. Remember, when you wake up in the morning it's been around 10-12 hours since your last meal. Your body needs food now, more than at any other time. Eat a heavy breakfast. You will then be busy through the day, and the calories will get expended quickly. If you are trying to diet, eat a light dinner. Here are some more common health mistakes we make. Being informed and making a few changes can help make us feel a whole lot better.

High heels
High heels sure look great, but they're murder for your back. This however doesn't mean you should steer clear of stilettos. Wear them, but not when you know you will be walking around a lot. Wear them when going out for lunch or dinner - when the only walking you will be doing is to your car, to the table, and back. Avoid high heels when you are going somewhere on foot. If you are constantly tempted to wear your heels, take a good look at your flats. Is there something about them you dislike? Invest in a new pair of beautiful flats or shoes with a low heel. Buy something you love, that you will enjoy wearing. If possible, get a matching bag. You will then enjoy your flats as much as you do your heels.

Sleeping on a soft bed
You don't have to sleep on the floor be kind to your back, but do make sure you have a firm mattress. Although a mattress on springs is soft and lovely to sink into, it's bad for your back. If you already have an old bed with springs, you don't need to invest in a new one - simply get a thick wooden plank put over the springs, and place the mattress on the plank. Similarly, if your mattress is old and lumpy, throw it out and get a new one. Your neck and your back will thank you. The same rule applies to sofas. If you will be spending hours on a sofa, get a firm yet comfortable one. Sofas you completely sink into are not the best idea.

Pillows
No matter how comfortable sleeping with ten cushions is, have pity on your neck and resist. Sleep with one pillow, and make sure it is not too thick. If your pillow gets lumpy, discard it and go for a new one. Get a thin pillow if you sleep on your stomach, and something a little thicker if you sleep on your back, to give your neck adequate support.

Not exercising
So all of us know we should exercise more, but many of us don't. This is a health mistake we consciously make! And why is that? Simply because we refuse to admit the damage we are causing to our bodies by not working out. A number of people only start working out once they've experienced a warning signal. Don't wait for a heart attack to strike before you decide to opt for a lifestyle change. Make the change now. You don't need to train for the marathon to be in top shape. Half an hour of brisk walking three to four times a week will make a world of difference to your health. You could then increase this to forty minutes, four times a week - and you're all set. If you haven't exercised for a week, you're making a mistake.

Thunder by Boys like Girls

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

"With obvious lyrics, this song is about a summer love, and holding on to it even after its over. She will always move me even if we went different paths the song is basically a promise that I will never forget what we had." --- Martin Johnson-Singer/Guitarist

Today is a winding road
Thats taking me to places that I didnt want to go, whoa
Today in the blink of an eye
Im holding on to something and I do not know why I tried

I tried to read between the lines
I tried to look in your eyes
I want a simple explanation; what Im feeling inside
I gotta find a way out
Maybe theres a way out

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know youre unlike any other?
Youll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I dont wanna ever love another
Youll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Today is a winding road
Tell me where to start and tell me something I dont know, whoa
Today Im on my own
I cant move a muscle and I cant pick up the phone, I dont know

And now I'm itching for the tall grass
And longing for the breeze
I need to step outside, just to see if I can breathe
I gotta find a way out
Maybe theres a way out

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know youre unlike any other?
Youll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I dont wanna ever love another
Youll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Yeah Im walking on a tightrope
I'm wrapped up in vines
I think Ill make it out but you just gotta give me time
Strike me down with lightning
Let me feel you in my veins
I wanna let you know how much I feel your pain

Today is a winding road
Thats taking me to places that I didnt want to go, whoa

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know youre unlike any other?
Youll always be my thunder, and I said
Your eyes are the brightest of all the colors
I dont wanna ever love another
Youll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
And bring on the thunder

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer
Do you know youre unlike any other?
Youll always be my thunder
So bring on the rain
Oh baby bring on the pain
And listen to the thunder

Overcoming Shyness

Friday, July 10, 2009

I am one of those shy person...but I can say that I have improved myself when I meet more and more people and find myself happy. Shyness cannot improve one's life if you cannot learn to overcome it and help yourself.

Being shy can be cute for a child, but as you grow up it will inhibit what you are willing to do as an adult and even go as far as inhibiting what you will be able to accomplish. Although it will be harder said then done, here are some overcoming shyness tips & advice.

Recognize Your Strengths
You have many and probably do not realize it. Many shy people tend to look at themselves in a more negative light and feel as if people can see right through them. The important thing to realize is that most people concentrate on themselves and their faults and do not look for faults in others. As self centered as that may sound, this also should provide some relief. They are looking at their own faults and not your own. Do not focus on any weaknesses you may have.

Practice Talking To Yourself in a Mirror
It is crucial to be able to talk to others and talking to yourself in a mirror can help. Have a conversations with yourself. Even go as far as practicing different conversations starters that you can try. Also practice standing straight and looking into the mirror as you talk. Body language goes a long way and you want to look interested in the person you are talking to.

Talk to Others
How to Overcome ShynessThis may be hard but there really is no way around it. Initiate some conversation. A great way of doing this is "Hi, how is your day going?" Little did you know, the person you just asked had a great day and is bursting at the seams to tell you about it. Try this a couple times each day until you are comfortable. Engaging in conversations is the best way to get over your shyness.

Listen
Be engaged in what others are saying and express that through your body language and by saying simple things such as "Really?" "Wow!" or other things that show that you are interested. Looking at the floor or shuffling your feet because you feel embarrassed is only going to turn off the person you are talking to.

You Are Not Alone
Many others feel the same way you do, even worse. Isn't it much easier to be in a room full of people knowing that half of them are just as shy? It should be, and it should be comforting as well. Many others face the same issues you may and if you can step out of the box and show them it is possible to overcome shyness you will have made some friends and have made some progress as well.

Practice, Practice, Practice
The most important thing that can do is practice these steps. There are so many ways to overcome being shy, but the most important is to be yourself and like yourself for who you are. Many others will like you as well as you become less insecure and more confident. Confident people stand out and are liked by their peers. Being liked also boosts self esteem, which in turn makes you more confident and less shy. See where this is going?

Although shyness is very common, it can also do more harm than good. There is nothing really positive that comes from being shy. You will notice that talking to others and feeling more secure about yourself will bring about positive things. It will also have a tendency to have a snowball effect or in other words, as things get better and you become more confident, it will only continue to do so until you are brimming with confidence. So go get in front of a mirror and start practicing and try to start a conversation with the first person you see. You will see a difference.

English Lyrics:

the white starlight envelops the tears
the tears fall in the warm wind
do you feel it?
this trembling, quiet whisper that is going your way

i draw you on this white paper
the warm smile holds me
is this love?
even when i close my eyes, i see only you

i will be waiting for you
i will wait for you
i don't want to see the tears of pain anymore
you let me know
this love that's like a lie, i'll never let it go
because that love is you

i'm walking in my memories with you
the tears fill even the deepest area of my heart
what should i do?
even in my dreams, i miss you

i will be waiting for you
i will wait for you
i don't want to see the tears of pain anymore
you let me know
this love that's like a lie, i'll never let it go
because that love is you

please look at me, like the faraway stars
can't you be the one that's in my heart

i will be waiting for you
i will wait for you
i don't want to see the tears of pain anymore
you let me know
this love that's like a lie, i'll never let it go
because that love is you

Just Five More Minutes

Tuesday, June 23, 2009

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.
“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.
“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”
Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”
Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five
more minutes.”
The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”
The man smiled and said, “OK.”
“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.
The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.
She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”

Five minutes isn't that long to spent time to someone you love.Even if you have your priorities in your everyday routine, 5 minutes with your love ones can make your wholeday worthwhile.

Dads Blessings

Sunday, June 21, 2009

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautifully wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angry, he raised his voice to his father and said "With all your money, you give me a Bible?" and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. And as he did, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words PAID IN FULL.

The Climb by Miley Cyrus

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

I can almost see it
That dream I am dreaming
But there's a voice inside my head saying
"You'll never reach it"

Every step I'm taking
Every move I make feels
Lost with no direction
My faith is shaking

But I gotta keep trying
Gotta keep my head held high

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb

The struggles I'm facing
The chances I'm taking
Sometimes might knock me down
But no, I'm not breaking

I may not know it
But these are the moments that
I'm gonna remember most, yeah
Just gotta keep going

And I, I got to be strong
Just keep pushing on

'Cause there's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be a uphill battle
Sometimes I'm gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

There's always gonna be another mountain
I'm always gonna wanna make it move
Always gonna be an uphill battle
Somebody's gonna have to lose

Ain't about how fast I get there
Ain't about what's waiting on the other side
It's the climb, yeah!

Keep on moving, keep climbing
Keep the faith, baby
It's all about, it's all about the climb
Keep the faith, keep your faith, whoa

Pencil Story

Monday, June 15, 2009

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box.

"There are 5 things you need to know," he told the pencil, "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be."

"One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand."

"Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil."

"Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."

"Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside."

"And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write."

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems in life, but you'll need it to become a stronger person.

Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's on the inside.

And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. No matter what the situation, you must continue to do your duties.

This story reminds me that I as a person was born for a purpose that I need to accomplish. Everyone do exist because we have a mission to do. Every situation, every problems, every happiness and all that we experience in life has its purpose. Even if we didn't realize it for now, there is always a point in our life that we will be reminded of a situation happened and thought of its purpose.

Do you wear contact lenses?

Saturday, June 13, 2009

Contact lenses, like eyeglasses or LASIK, can correct your nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

While some people enjoy making a fashion statement with eyeglasses, others prefer their appearance without them. Contact lenses can achieve this without irreversible refractive surgery. Contact lenses can also provide a full field of unobstructed vision, which is great for sports.

Contact lenses have been around for more than a hundred years. During that time, many advancements have allowed just about everyone to wear contact lenses. If you were told in the past that you couldn't wear contact lenses, odds are that's not true today. There are more convenient and healthy contact lens options than ever.

If you're new to contact lenses, your first step is to see an eye doctor. In the United States, contact lenses are a prescription item, just like pharmaceuticals. They must be prescribed and properly fitted by an eye care professional (ECP). Your ECP will evaluate your visual needs, your eye structure, and your tears to help determine the best type of lens for you.

The many types of contact lenses currently available can be grouped in various ways according to:

  • What they're made of
  • How long you wear them without removal
  • How often you dispose of them
  • The design of the lens
To determine which contact lens is right for you, first, your contacts must address the problem that is prompting you to wear lenses in the first place. Your contact lenses must provide good vision by correcting your myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, or some combination of those vision problems.

Second, the lens must fit your eye. To do that, lenses come in tens of thousands of combinations of diameter and curvature. Of course, not every lens brand comes in every "size."

Your ECP is skilled in evaluating your eye's physiology, and your eyesight, to determine which lens best satisfies the two criteria above.

Third, you may have another medical need that drives the choice of lens. For example, your ECP might pick a particular lens if your eyes tend to be dry.

Finally, consider your "wish list" of contact lens features — colors, for example, or overnight wear.

When you and your ECP decide on the right lens for you, you'll be given a contact lens prescription. You'll be able to buy a supply of lenses from your ECP or from the many other outlets that sell contact lenses.

Keeping a Relationship

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

It's best to wait for the one you want than settle for the one available. Best to wait for the one you love than one who's around. Best to wait for the right one because life's too short to be wasted on just someone. "An African proverb states, "Before you get married, keep both eyes open, and after you marry, close one eye." Before you get involved and make a commitment to someone, don't let lust, desperation, immaturity, ignorance, pressure from others or a low self-esteem make you blind to warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don't fool yourself that you can change someone or that what you see as faults aren't really that important. Once you decide to commit to someone, overtime, their flaws, vulnerabilities, pet peeves, and differences will become more obvious. If you love your mate and want the relationship to grow and evolve, you've got to learn how to close one eye and not let every little thing bother you. You and your mate have many different expectations, emotional needs, values, dreams, weaknesses, and strengths. You are two unique individual children of God who have decided to share a life together. Neither one of you are perfect, but are you perfect for each other? Do you bring out the best in each other? Do you compliment and compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare and control? What do you bring to the relationship? Do you bring past relationships, past hurt, past mistrust, past pain? You can't take someone to the altar to alter them. You can't make someone love you or make someone stay.
If you develop self-esteem, spiritual discernment, and "a life" you won't find yourself making someone else responsible for your happiness or responsible for your pain. Manipulation, control, jealousy, neediness, and selfishness are not the ingredients of a thriving, healthy, loving and lasting relationship. Seeking status, sex, and security are the wrong reasons to be in a relationship.

What keeps a relationship strong?
- communication
- intimacy
- a sense of humor
- sharing household tasks
- some getaway time without business or children
- daily exchanges (a meal, shared activity, a hug, a call, a touch, a note)
- sharing common goals and interests
- giving each other space to grow without feeling insecure
- giving each other a sense of belonging and assurances of
- asking God to be the center of your relationship

If these qualities are missing, the relationship will erode as resentment, withdrawal, abuse, neglect, dishonesty and pain replace the passion.

As long as we have memories, yesterday remains As long as we have hope, tomorrow awaits As long as we have friendship, today is beautiful."

Love is when you take away the feeling, the passion, and the romance in
a Relationship and find out that you still care for that person.

INSOMNIA by Craig David

Saturday, May 30, 2009

I never thought that I'd fall in love, love, love, love
But it grew from a simple crush, crush, crush, crush
Being without you girl, I was all messed up, up, up, up
When you walked out, said that you'd had enough-nough-nough-nough

Been a fool, girl I know
Didn't expect this is how things would go
Maybe in time, you'll change your mind
Now looking back i wish i could rewind

Because i can't sleep til you're next to me
No i can't live without you no more
Oh i stay up til you're next to me
Til this house feels like it did before
Feels like insomnia ah ah, Feels like insomnia ah ah
Feels like insomnia ah ah, Feels like insomnia ah ah

Remember telling my boys that I'd never fall in love, love, love, love
You used to think I'd never find a girl I could trust, trust, trust, trust
And then you walked into my life and it was all about us, us, us, us
But now I'm sitting here thinking I messed the whole thing up, up, up, up

Been a fool (fool), girl I know (know)
Didn't expect this is how things would go
Maybe in time (time), you'll change your mind (mind)
Now looking back i wish i could rewind

Because i can't sleep til you're next to me
No i can't live without you no more (without you no more)
Oh i stay up til you're next to me (to me)
Til this house feels like it did before (Because it)
Feels like insomnia ah ah, Feels like insomnia ah ah
Feels like insomnia ah ah (Ah), Feels like insomnia ah ah

Ah, i just can't go to sleep
Cause it feels like I've fallen for you
It's getting way too deep
And i know that it's love because

I can't sleep til you're next to me
No i can't live without you no more (without you no more)
Oh i stay up til you're next to me (to me)
Til this house feels like it did before
